Young Achiever Award (YAA)
2024 MJSTASE Young Achiever Award Accepting Applications
Established in 1994, the annual Monte Jade Young Achiever Award (YAA) has recognized more than 300 outstanding Chinese-American high school students, in their junior and senior years, for their exceptional achievement in the following categories:

The online application for YAA 2024 starts on July 01, and the applicants need to submit all required documentation by September 01.
The YAA recipients will be announced at the end of September and will be invited to the award presentation ceremony at the MJSTASE 2024 annual conference, to be held in November 2nd. Their photos and bios will be featured in the MJSTASE annual Yearbook.
The YAA application is similar to most of the college application requirements. Applicants may take advantage of this opportunity to have an early start in the preparation of college application.

Submission and Deadlines
We will start accepting YAA online applications on July 01, 2024. Applicants need to submit the required documentation no later than 11:59 pm, September 01, 2024.
After submitting the form, you are still allowed to come back to make changes until September 01.
Applicants should use the following way to submit the supporting documents:

Drop the files (in Word, pdf or jpg/png format) to the Google Drive folder assigned to the applicant; the link will be emailed to you after the online application form is submitted

It is preferred that recommendation letters be sent directly to us. Please either mailed to mjstase2016@gmail.com directly from your school and/or teacher/coach. If email is not possible, please mail the documents to:

MJSTASE Young Achiever Award Committee, consisting of four or five judges, will review the applications to decide the award recipients. The final award recipients will be announced at the end of September 2024.
Required Documentation
Applicants need to submit the following supporting materials to be considered:

A resume

A brief bio in 100 words or less for MJSTASE Annual Conference Yearbook

A digital copy of a recent photo (passport size: 1.3" width preferred)

An essay in 250-650 words by selecting one topic from 2024-2025 Common App Essay Prompts

A personal three-minute video clip to introduce yourself, your interests, hobbies, and future goals (be creative!!)

A copy of your most recent official high school transcript
-
Two recommendation letters from your high school teacher, counselor, extracurricular teacher or coach
-
A copy of your SAT, ACT, or PSAT score
-
A video clip, recording, pictures, other relevant media or a combination of these items that pertain to your artistic discipline (Special Talent Award applicants only)
Important Notes

Applications from previous Young Achiever Award on Outstanding or Excellence on Academic recipients will not be accepted.

All the award recipients are required to attend the award presentation rehearsal ceremony at the MJSTASE 2024 Annual Conference, which is planned for early November this year. The award will not be given to the absentees.

Talent performance at the award ceremony is highly encouraged for the award recipients.
